PIRC Parent Notification


According to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) signed into law in 2002, Section 1118.(g),schools and/or school districts are required to inform parents and other parent organizations “of the existence and purpose of the PIRCs. PIRCs provide training, information, and support to parents and individuals who work with local parents, local educational agencies, and schools receiving assistance under this part” (No Child Left Behind Act of 2001; Public Law 107-110, January 8, 2002).

We have provided a PIRC Parent Notification which you can download and use to notify your parents of the services and resources available through the of PIRCs in Florida.  This notification is available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.

Educators, you can include it in your school’s newsletter and School Parent Involvement Policy, send it home as a separate document with your students, or announce it at open house, annual meeting, PTA Meeting, Special Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting, or other parent meetings. You can also use parts of it to keep your parents informed from time to time throughout the school year. An important place to include the PIRC Parent Notification is in your New Student Packet for parents.
